Need a Word/Need a Date

I.
So, after the big hoo-ha of Idol, I'm taking six months to focus on writing. I've been saving my playwriting royalties for a few years now, and I'm about to put one more roommate in my house, so as long as I pick cheap places to go (warm and cheap! Go Third World!) I should be fine.
The plan is to spend October-December and February-April traveling and writing. I'm officially not taking gigs for myself for six months, though I'll book stuff I can send other performers to. And I've got just enough work in January to not get totally out of shape!
And, at the prompting of
kathrynrose, I'm going to call it something other than "time off" since it's not really resting time, it's just different time. Less circus, more writing. Maybe "sabbatical", but that doesn't seem completely right, either.
Suggestions?
II.
Can we date?
I mean, writing date. Though you are totally hot, and I find myself very attracted to you. Ahem. To your writing.
Typically, we meet up at a coffee shop or bookstore, spend a few minutes chatting anddicking around on the internet clearing the decks for action, then write for about an hour. Take a short break, possibly read what we've written to each other (or trade computers to read), then write for about another hour. It's so damn productive to be typing away, knowing you're not alone...and when the momentum slows, I look up and think, I'd like to quit now...oh, shit, she's still writing. Fuck, I better get back to it.
To that end, here are my upcoming travel plans (subject to change, but this is the general idea) - and if you're in the area, let's meet and write.
Sept 17-19 - Fargo, ND
End of September - Southern Ontario
October - England, particularly London, but that's why they have trains
November 13ish - driving from Michigan to Florida via Indianpolis, Louisville/Lexington, Nashville, Atlanta and points en route
Mid-November-Mid-December - India, definitely Varanasai, and likely Mumbai, Kolkata, and Delhi
Mid-December-Early January - Cape Town, South Africa
January 7-23 - Memphis, Tennessee
January 24-26 - Utah, city TBA
February - probably Florida
If you're interested, hit me with a comment or a message and your location; if you're not near but you're interested anyway, tell me where you are, because it's not rare for me to suddenly go somewhere else.

I think it is a wonderful idea. A writing sabatical.
My dad took a sabatical (when he was lecturing) to write a book.

What, no Texas on that list? But we have such interesting wild life here! See also: our politicians and small towns.

"Sabbatical" is better. It still implies taking time off a job, but there are professors who take sabbatical to work on a research project.
"Development" time doesn't sound sexy, but in a way that's what you're doing. You're writing and planting seeds that will hopefully be accepted and take root later.
Hell, as much travelling as you're talking about doing, you could call it a "walk about." :)
It doesn't really have to have a name, though. "I've scheduled six months to focus on my writing."
Whatever you want to accomplish, call it that. Hell, you could call it "feet on the ground time." :P

I'd suggest "gap year" but I don't know if that works if it's not a year :)

Which direction are you? I'll be staying in the Guilford/Farnborough/Farnham area. Let's make it happen. What's your schedule like?
